The Bangladesh-India Mediators Forum (BIMF), a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to promoting peaceful resolutions between the two neighboring nations, has proudly launched its first official website in October 2024. This digital platform marks a significant milestone for BIMF, established on October 22, 2020, under the vision of fostering cross-border cooperation through Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanisms.
Inaugurated by Hon’ble Mr. Justice Imman Ali, Senior Judge of the Appellate Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, the forum is the first of its kind in the region, founded by leading legal experts to mediate and resolve various disputes between Bangladesh and India. BIMF’s areas of focus include water-sharing conflicts, land and maritime boundary disputes, geopolitical issues, human rights violations, and techno-commercial as well as contractual disputes. The forum also seeks to address emerging areas such as medico-legal and cross-border technological disagreements.
The launch of the BIMF website serves as a key resource for mediators, policymakers, and the general public, providing updates on ongoing initiatives, upcoming events, and insights into the mediation process. The platform will also act as a repository of knowledge on ADR best practices, case studies, and collaborative efforts undertaken by both nations to maintain peaceful bilateral relations.
As BIMF steps into the digital sphere, the organization hopes to further its mission of resolving conflicts through dialogue and mutual understanding, creating a stronger bond between Bangladesh and India for years to come.
